The Mentors & Ventures Program (MVP

The Mentors & Ventures Program (MVP) sponsored by the Isenberg School of Management brings UMass startups (student, alumni, faculty, or staff from any of the five UMass campuses) together with volunteer business executives, mainly alumni of the University.  In a fun, engaging series of evenings the mentors provide guidance for the entrepreneurs and make a difference in the lives of promising young people.

The program meets monthly in Boston so that mentors have a chance to build real relationships and see how the ventures evolve over time.  Between the monthly sessions mentors give as much, or as little, time to each venture as they feel appropriate.

A typical meeting looks like this...

5:00pm Networking - Networking time is deliberating long to allow ventures and mentors ample opportunity for conversations that lead to "beneficial collisions"

5:30pm  Introduction

5:40pm  Presentations by Entrepreneurs - Each UMass student or alumni entrepreneur speaks for five minutes to all the mentors.  The Q&A for each entrepreneur takes place in the "Mentoring Roundtable Sessions" that follow.  Based on the presentation they heard, each mentor will make his or her own decision about which Roundtable to join.

6:15  Mentoring Roundtables  In this smaller group setting several mentors huddle with a single venture to get to know each other and exchange ideas.

7:00  Networking
