Funding Opportunities

Assistantships/Financial Aid

Many of our MBA students receive full assistantships covering tuition, fees, comprehensive health and dental insurance and providing a stipend. Estimated cost for the program for those with an Assistantship for two years, based on 2008-2009, is approximately $3,000. Graduate Student Assistants for the 2008-2009 academic year receive an annual stipend totaling approximately $7,200.

Fellowships and scholarships for academic achievement and entrepreneurial potential are also awarded to extraordinary candidates. (recent assistantship examples)

Sample Assistantships 

  • Isenberg Scholars: Each year the Isenberg School awards more than seven Eugene M. Isenberg scholars, who combine science, management, and technology in their graduate studies. The Isenberg Scholars exemplify Mr. Isenberg's vision of exceptional students who thrive in an interdisciplinary university environment.
  • Gaunt Scholars: An active member of the Isenberg School of Management Business Advisory Council (BAC), Mr. David Gaunt provides full-assistantship support to four MBA students each year. To receive a Gaunt Scholarship, applicants must demonstrate significant academic achievement and interest in finance and entrepreneurship.
  • Flavin Fellowships: Flavin Fellowships are awarded to students on the basis of strong academic ability as well as demonstrated entrepreneurial interest. Flavin Fellows work with Professor James Theroux, the award winning Flavin Professor of Entrepreneurship.
  • Center for Student Business: This two year assistantship is designed to provide MBA students with practical experience managing a group of undergraduate business consultants at the UMass Center for Student Business well as provide supervision and guidance to nine student run businesses.
