Academics

At Isenberg, we have a flexible program design with options to best meet your career objectives. Depending on the academic plan, the Isenberg Full-time MBA degree ranges from 37 credits to 52 credits.

During the first year, students participate in the core curriculum designed to provide a rigorous foundation in a wide range of business topics and skills. In the second year, students explore their academic interests by pursuing an area of focus by taking specialized elective courses at Isenberg or throughout the UMass Amherst campus. They can also craft their own approved independent study to fully customize their academic focus.

In addition to taking elective courses, students can put theory to practice in an experiential learning-based consulting project (6 credits) with for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. These projects allow students to apply their business knowledge and solve complex issues with a group of colleagues.
