Welcome Incoming Class!
On behalf of the Isenberg School of Management, we’d like to welcome you as one of our incoming MBA students! We have a great group of students arriving to campus this fall from various academic and professional disciplines, worldwide.
Please visit this “Incoming MBA Class of 2008” site which will include important information to help you with coursework and career planning as you prepare for the program in the fall. You will be notified over the summer, via email, when updates are posted. Please provide us with any new or preferred email addresses. Below is an at-a-glance, chronological list of information to be provided on this website throughout the summer.
- Graduate Business Association. You will soon receive an email from Greg Taylor, President of the Graduate Business Association (GBA) with information regarding this student organization (he will also provide details regarding the Link program, detailed below). This student group focuses on academics, professional development, community involvement, and social experiences.
- Link Program. Greg Taylor of the GBA will also send you details regarding our Link program, on behalf of the GBA. This mentoring program will match you with a 2nd year MBA student to assist you with any questions regarding curriculum, student life, housing, etc. Your “Link” will become a key resource for you as you prepare to arrive on campus.
- Women in Business and Net Impact. Women in Business is a student group that stands to provide opportunities to explore issues of gender in the business environment. Net Impact is an international group that works to grow and strengthen a community of new leaders who use business to make a positive net social, environmental, and economic impact. In mid-June, you will receive emails from Daniele Mathras, President of Women in Business, and Kevin Greer, President of UMass Amherst’s Chapter of Net Impact.
- Summer Career Homework. Nic Wegman, Executive Director of the Chase Career Center, will be providing details of career-related assignments over the summer for you to complete prior to your arrival to campus this fall. Details regarding due dates will be posted in July.
- Summer Excel Datius Case Homework. Details surrounding this assignment will be posted in July.
- Student Profile Form. When you arrive for Orientation on September 2nd, we will be taking pictures of all of you for our Student Profile Book. This book will include background information regarding your past academic history, past employer, etc. An email will be sent to you in August requesting that you complete an electronic form with information for the profile book.
- MBA Orientation. Orientation for ALL incoming MBA students will commence on Tuesday, September 2nd. Further details on orientation and the class start date will be posted in August.
- MBA Reception. We will host a reception the evening of Tuesday, September 2nd. Please feel free to bring a guest. Faculty, staff, and 2nd year MBA students will be present at the reception to welcome you to campus.
- Fall 2008 Schedule & Texts. The Graduate Programs Office will register you for all of your MBA courses during your first year in the program. Information regarding your fall course schedule and text books will be posted in late-August.
