Dean's Welcome

Welcome to the Isenberg School of Management. If you are a student considering our programs, you will discover an exciting curriculum that combines business fundamentals with an emphasis on innovation, interdisciplinary study, and social responsibility. As an Isenberg School student, you will join an extended community with an alumni network of 32,000 business professionals. Our graduates have an increasing impact on business and society; they also serve as exemplary role models and future employers of our students. At the same time, Isenberg School alumni provide us with crucial financial support that strengthens the national competitiveness of our programs.

The Isenberg School will prepare you to lead and manage innovation in an increasingly global economy. You will learn to think more innovatively about manufacturing, business services, and business processes. And you will have the opportunity to experience the global economy first hand though our own international studies courses, which combine concentrated class work with two-week visits to Italy, China, Denmark, Brazil, and four other destinations.

The Isenberg School ranks first among public universities in the Northeast and 58th nationally in the current edition of Business Week’s annual survey, The Best Undergraduate Business Schools. Our increasingly selective undergraduate program—this year’s entering freshmen had high school grade point averages of 3.65 and SAT scores of 1,189—offers majors in accounting, finance, management, marketing, and operations management. In addition, students also major in our two industry niche specialties of sport management and hospitality and tourism management.

Our full-time residential MBA program has also earned increasing distinction. In U.S. News and World Report’s current survey, America’s Best Graduate Schools, we placed first among our MBA counterparts at public colleges and universities in the Northeast and 58th nationally.

And in the 2007 edition of Princeton Review’s Best Business Schools, our MBA program earned top-ten national rankings in four of eleven strategic categories. In a field of 282 MBA programs, the Isenberg School ranked:

2nd in Best Overall Academic Experience
4th in Best Professors
5th in Greatest Opportunity for Women
10th in Toughest to Get into

At the Isenberg School of Management, our commitment to business education also includes preparing business educators themselves: Graduates of our Ph.D. program—the oldest in business at a public school of higher education in New England—hold faculty positions at more than one hundred colleges and universities.
If you are looking for a business school that will prepare you to become more innovative in our global economy, I urge you to explore our website and visit our campus. Our challenging academic programs and vibrant alumni community will help you to achieve success both as a student and throughout your career.
